The Delaware DE Board of Cosmetology oversees all cosmetology licenses in the State of Delaware. The primary objective of the Delaware Board of Cosmetology and Barbering is to protect the general public from unsafe practice and from practices which tend to reduce competition or fix prices for accounting services. The Board must also maintain standards of professional competence and service delivery. To meet these objectives, the Board develops standards for professional competency promulgates rules and regulations adjudicates complaints against professionals and, when necessary, imposes disciplinary sanctions. It issues licenses or permits to apprentice, practice or instruct in each of these areas. It also issues permits to shops/salons that offer services in each of these areas and to schools that teach these practice areas.(excerpt from The Delaware DE Board of Cosmetology official web site).
